Being a YouTuber is not as easy as it seems. People often forget about what really goes on behind the scenes. It's easy to forget that one of your favourite YouTubers is just a normal person due to this fangirl and celebrity culture that has been created.
I've been creating content since 2009 and I feel like I've lost a spark of creativity. I have seen YouTube grow from a tiny website to content creators now being able to release books, beauty lines and much more. It's amazing how much things have changed and how the community are now seen more seriously. However along my YouTube journey, I think I became so focused on this idea of being a 'successful' YouTuber. I soon realised that this is not the way to go. Once you start focusing on that, you lose a sense of your unique self and instead try to be like other YouTubers in order to achieve the same level of success. Ever since I did that, my audience decreased and for a long time I didn't know why.
Being a YouTuber isn't about being successful and famous. Being a YouTuber is about creating content which you truly have a passion for making.
I haven't enjoyed making videos for a long time and now I know why. I used to make music videos and I had such a passion for creating them. I thoroughly miss being so passionate about my channel and it took away sense of myself. YouTube is a great platform for sharing what you can do and who you are to the rest of the world.
I plan to bring back my channel in January once I finish my Christmas job. I'm no longer focused on how many views I get, but what content I am creating. I aspire to create meaningful content which can inspire many and simply just make me happy.
Creating YouTube videos should be something you truly feel happiness from. It should not be about how popular you are.
